Struggling with figures are floating, falling, or just not right? Balance is crucial to drawing a figure that “feels” correct, and in this beginner’s class we’ll be covering everything you know to confidently create figures that occupy the page as they ought to. In this class we’ll cover
—Basics of balance for standing poses
—Balance in seated poses
—Using “balancing boulders” to create balanced body parts and gesture
This class is part of Soho Life Drawing’s mini-class series designed to give beginner, early-stage, and self-taught life drawers a leg up. Choosing from a variety of poses and examples from contemporary art and art history, these comprehensive classes allow students to get a more in depth understanding of life drawing both at real-life classes and when online drawing.
At the end we’ll have a show and tell (for those who feel comfortable showing their work) and the chance for a friendly group critique. If you’re shy or want a more in-depth critique of your work, feel free to e mail one or two images to Ann at the end of the class who will provide you with visual corrections.
