* Focus on Charcoal: In this class we'll be focussed entirely on using charcoal, and the various mark making methods we can use to create fabulous drawings!
Did you know you could change your marks from novice to professional just by the way you sharpen your pencil? Or that you mind be creating barriers for yourself by not using charcoal correctly? Or that the way you hold your materials can open up a whole world of different ways of shading? In this class, suitable for beginners and more experienced artists alike, we're going to be introducing you to the fascinating possibilities of using dry drawing materials, and how to make marks like a pro. We recommend bringing at least some of the following —Graded Pencils (at least one High H pencil; an HB, B, or 2 B; and an 8B —Charcoal --An exacto or carving knife (Opinel's a good choice if you'd like a recommendation) --Sandpaper In class we'll walk you through-- —Utilisation --Grip —Mark-making and —Shading And answer any questions you may have along the way! Taught by Soho Life Drawing founder Ann Mackowski, our mini-class series are designed to give beginner, early-stage, and self-taught life drawers a leg up. Choosing from a variety of poses and examples from contemporary art and art history, these comprehensive classes allow students to get a more in depth understanding of life drawing as well as one-on-one critiques for those who wish who can send Ann a photo of one of their works from class for an additional visual mark-up. |
