Every wondered what it would be like to have your portrait or a portrait of someone of your choice drawn by artists all over the globe? Or looking for a chance to hone your portraiture skills by drawing real people? In this friendly and accessible class, we're not only going to be drawing one another’s portraits, but learning how to do it with step-by-step drawing instruction by Soho Life Drawing founder and tutor Ann Mackowski (if you’d rather not have your portrait drawn—don’t worry! You can still join in and receive valuable instruction)
Here’s how it works
Ideally, please e mail a good quality portrait of us or of a friend or family member to [email protected] before class--or, if we have time, Ann can take a screenshot of you from Zoom for us to work on.
We'll begin the course by giving a comprehensive beginner's tutorial on how to draw faces before continuing on to drawing one another. Your portrait will be included in the lesson, which covers the basics of creating dynamic, well balanced portraits on any scale. Suitable for complete beginners as well as self-taught artists looking for a catch-up, this class gives simple yet detailed guidance into creating compelling portraits.
You can expect to learn how to draw the human head from any angle, as well as understand how to convey faces in brief when working in smaller scales.
Bring whatever materials you would like—although we would recommend against using charcoal or wet mediums if you are a beginner!
Otherwise, Ann will take a screenshot of you on Zoom after briefly directing your pose.
Hope to see you there!
