Curious about Gouache? Gouache paints have the tantalising ability to provide us with oil-painting esque compositions without all the fumes, yet are notoriously difficult to handle. In this class we'll be taking a beginners look at how to use gouache, and the many possibilities contained within this versatile water medium. We'll be covering
--Gouache: How It's Made, and How It's Used
--Creating Colour: Painting Still Lives and People in Gouache
--Brush Technique
After an introduction to the medium and some studies practicing using light and shade and warm and cool colours, we'll be applying our understanding of gouache to painting both from a still life, and from a nude reference. Absolutely all levels are welcome to join--this will be a ground-up foray into the art of gouache painting so no worries if you are completely new to the medium!
Please Bring
--Gouache Paints (any red, yellow, blue and white will do; earth tones including raw Sienna, burnt Sienna, crimson, burnt umber and raw ochre recommended for skin tones)
