In this two part class, we'll be looking at creating watercolour nudes by doing a deep dive into the form of the human figure. Designed for beginners, this class will break down some elements of colour theory into easily understandable parts, and explore the volume of the human form to create realistic figures.
For our second class, we'll be pre-mixing colours to create a realistic watercolour nude. We will start the class with two tone colour exercises, reviewing the information covered in the first class, before drafting, mixing colours, and creating a finished painting. We'll be covering
-Review of Warm and Cool Tones
-Mixing and Diluting Watercolours
-Preserving Highlights
-Brush Technique
For both classes, we will be using quadricone violet, gamboge, cadmium orange medium, and primary cyan (recommended brand: MaimeriBlu). If you don't have these colours exactly, please bring violet (or purple), yellow, orange (or red and yellow), and blue.
Watercolour nudes are notoriously difficult, so if you're a beginner please don't worry--there's no judgement or grading here. The best way to learn is to approach the class as an exploration and learning experience--the more experiments you're willing to make the better artist you'll become!
