Schiele Watercolours: Form and Composition

Learn how to make your watercolours take shape in this beginner's class focussed on the works of Egon Schiele, the early 20th century master of figure drawing and painting. We'll be learning the first steps in how the master composed and executed his watercolours, and learning how to take advantage of those methods to create our own watercolour works. No previous experience with watercolours is required. Taught by Ann Mackowski, we'll be covering

-Creating a Schiele inspired Pencil and Watercolour Work
Previous classes are not necessary, but if you would like further instruction on Schiele's work, Egon Schiele: Man and Method and videos as part of our four-class series on the artist will be available to purchase on request
Please bring at least some of the following:
—Red, Yellow, and Blue Watercolours (minimum), Earth Tones
--Crayons or Oil Pastels
----Paper (A3) Open to Interpretation. Standard Options: A3 Watercolour Paper (white) + Heavy Brown craft Paper (any size): Experimental Alternatives: Paper Bags, Butchers Paper, Cardboard, Packing Paper
--White Chalk/Paint/Oil Pastel
--Watercolour Brushes Smooth (synthetic ok) + 1 medium, 1 small Hog's Bristle Brush or textural equivalent
--Sharpie or Similar
--Paintbrushes
--Watercolour Paper
--2-3 Cups Water
--Paper Towels/Rag/ Etc... for Wiping
--Pencil and Eraser
--RECOMMENDED: Hair Dryer
