Anatomy is the foundation of classical life drawing and one of the keys to creating dynamic drawings—but can sometimes feel stiff and overwhelming—or esoteric and irrelevant. In this practical beginners class, tutor Ann Mackowski will be teaching you the basics of anatomical parts directly usable in drawing; how to recognise what structures are going on underneath the skin; and how artists incorporate anatomy in their art through studies of Egon Schiele. You can expect to be drawing most of the time as we cover
-Basic Anatomy
-Anatomy Inference—Where to Look for Common Forms (i.e. bones and muscles you can identify under the skin)
-Egon Schiele: Anatomy and Step-By-Step Drawing
Just bring along a pencil and paper—or any other medium you’d like to work with. As always, artists of all levels are warmly welcomed!
