In this beginner friendly class we’ll be learning how to transform stiff and awkward drawings into more gestural, fluid compositions using historic techniques. We’ll start by looking at the anatomical forms of common trouble spots on the figure and learning how to use basic anatomy to inform dynamic poses before moving on to compositional techniques to enhance a sense of fluidity even further. This class is perfect if you’ve been struggling with stiff and lifeless poses, or are having trouble translating gesture into longer drawings.
Taught by Ann Mackowski, this class will cover
—Fluidity in art history
—Common Causes of Stiff Drawings
—Anatomy
—Continuous Forms
—Gesture and Fluidity
And more!
All that's required are pencils and paper. As always, the class will include a mix of exercises, examples, and questions breaks where Ann will also be able to critique individual works.
