Ann Mackowski is an internationally exhibited artist and teacher. She started Soho Life Drawing after she realised how common it was for negative early educational experiences to discourage adults from making art later in life--and believes that it's a misconception that talent or creativity is necessarily innate. She founded Soho Life Drawing in 2016 to provide an affordable and accessible drop-in creative and social outlet in central London for artists and non-arts based professionals alike. She is passionate about art-making's ability to improve personal wellbeing, and believes the process has a benefit that people should be encouraged to enjoy without intimidation.
In addition to life drawing and illustration, Ann is an experienced landscape artist and tutor and was featured on Sky’s Landscape Artist of the Year. She offers group instruction, with clients including Buzzfeed, Liberty, and the University of the Arts London. Privately, she provides technical training for established artists.
Jennifer Moore is an artist, ornithologist and author and has been teaching since 2011. She holds regular private illustration, drawing, and painting classes in Sussex, and has been instrumental in creating the Soho Life Drawing community. She’s the creative force behind SLD ventures “Eat, Drink and Draw”, a combination life-drawing and cake drawing event, and Soho Life Drawing’s inaugural student exhibition.
A heartfelt supporter of experience based learning, she approaches drawing tuition in a way that promotes education and awareness in other natural fields, such as honeybee conservation and sustainability and birdwatching. She specialises in gouache, line drawings and charcoal.
She has recently illustrated and authored a series of birdwatching log books, and includes the Sussex Wildlife Trust as representatives. You can find her work in bookstores or purchase via her website below.
